Family Adventure Programs & Camping
Our family programs are designed to fit into your busy summer schedule during your vacation on Hornby island, or to offer a quiet camping area for your whole family to experience Tribune Bay and some of our adventure programs.
Please note that these programs are only offered in the summer months. If you are looking to come to Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Centre in the spring or fall check out our School Groups or Retreats Pages!
The Family and Individual Programs are a first-come, first-serve basis. Availability is subject to pre-bookings and group retreats.
Family Adventure Camping
Booking for 2021 Family Adventure Camping is OPEN NOW for weekends in June and September and all of July and August. Book your family retreat today!
Please note that camping is available to BC Residents only.
Stay at Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Centre for an adventure getaway for the whole family! Experience camping on the quiet side of Tribune Bay with your very own beach access, adventure programs, and a private site. For each night you stay, you and your family get to participate in one of our amazing outdoor adventure programs!
Families will choose from a 2-hour guided session of:
- High Ropes
- Leap of Faith
- Giant’s Ladder
- Rock Climbing
- Rappelling
- Kayaking
- Stand Up Paddle Boarding
- Guided Hikes

Please note:
- Access to a cook shelter is included in your stay.
- Youth are ages 5-16, under 5 are free.
- It is recommended that you book your adventure activities in advance.
- No RV’s or towable trailers, no hookups.
Adventure Programs
Planning a trip to Hornby Island? Looking for something to do? We have some great family-friendly adventures for ages 5 and up!
Pre-bookings are required for summer 2021.
Family Adventure programs are available daily. Session times are listed below.
- Kayaking
- High Ropes
- Rock Climbing
- Leap of Faith
- Stand Up Paddle Boarding
- Guided Hikes
- Giant’s Ladder (*requires a minimum of 7 people to participate)
Daily session times are:
- 10:00am-12:00pm
- 1:00pm-3:00pm
- 4:00pm-6:00pm
Registration for Drop in Programs are at 9:30, 12:30, and 3:30 at the Centre office. Please park at the end of the driveway past the information booth, and walk over to the office (two-story building in the trees) for registration.
Drop ins are first-come, first-serve and pre-booking is required for 2021. Please call (250) 335-0080 or email info@tribunebayoutdoored.ca to book.

Campfire Programs appropriate for all ages
Educational animal role play activities and games
Forest and Ocean: Interpretive environmental activities
High Adventure Challenge: High Ropes (7 elements), Rock Climbing, Rappelling, Giant’s Ladder, Leap of Faith
Island Hikes: Various distances and difficulty complete with interpretive activities
Ocean Adventure: Stand-up Paddle Boarding, Kayaking, Marine Adventure and Interpretive Boat Tour
Orienteering: using maps and landmarks to make your way around the course
Sustainable Forest Practices and Economic Value
Team Building and initiative tasks: on the ground and using the Low Ropes Challenge Course
